Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Spanish Golf Federation, brought together a group of golf and tourism professionals to analyze the current situation in Galicia. The new headquarters of the Galician Federation, headed by Daniel Fernandez, were the setting for this work commission, which agreed on new strategies to jointly promote the flow of national and international golf tourists in Galicia.
The different actions for 2018 include the project “Celtic Spain Golf & Wellness” of the Galicia Tourism Cluster. This action aims to establish agreements between golf clubs in London and Galicia that will generate an exchange of players. The chosen date coincided with the test of the professional women’s circuit LET Access Series. This event has been gathering 129 players from 29 countries —mainly from England, France and Spain— for 6 consecutive years at the Oca Augas Santas Spa & Golf Course. This is the only test of the 12 tests of the circuit that is held in Spain and is one of the best examples of how golf can promote a tourist destination.
